Jana Gheuens

Phd Researcher

Jana Gheuens is a Phd Researcher in the Environment and Sustainable Development Research Centre at the Brussels School of Governance. She graduated from the University of Ghent, Belgium with a Bachelor in Political Science and a MSc in European Studies, focusing on European Union climate policy. Jana continued her education with a MSc in Global Environmental History at Uppsala University, Sweden. For her thesis, she spent two months doing fieldwork in Kiribati in the Central Pacific Ocean. Previously, Jana has done a research internship at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment, and Health where she focused on disaster risk and water-security in Small Island Developing States. Jana has also interned at the Belgium Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya where she worked on political and multilateral affairs.

Jana's research as part of the Environment and Sustainable Development cluster will focus on democratic myopia and climate and energy governance in EU institutions.
