Peter Vis is a Senior Research Associate at the European University Institute (School of Transnational Governance) in Florence, encompassing research and assisting in teaching (a Master’s course in Transnational Governance and Executive Training). He is also a Senior Adviser at Rud Pedersen Public Affairs in Brussels and does other consultancy work on an independent basis.
He worked 30 years for the European Commission in a variety of roles, but mainly on climate-change-related topics, including EU climate policies, renewable energy, and the decarbonisation of transport. For 8 years he was part of the offices of the European Commissioners for Energy (2007-2010) and for Climate Action (2010-2014). He has co-edited two books on EU climate policy, the most recent (Towards a Climate Neutral Europe: Curbing the Trend) published by Routledge in 2019, and has contributed to or authored several other publications.
