Michito Tsuruoka has joined the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance as a Senior Associate Fellow in October 2021. He is based in Japan as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University. Prior to joining Keio in 2017, he was a Senior Fellow at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS), Ministry of Defense and an Advisor for NATO at the Embassy of Japan in Belgium (2005-2008). He also served as a Deputy Director of the International Policy Division at the Ministry of Defense (2012-2013) and a Visiting Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) in London (2013-2014). Dr Tsuruoka studied political science and international relations at Keio University and Georgetown University and received a PhD from King's College London. His areas of expertise include international security, European foreign policy (particularly Europe-Asia/Japan relations) and Japan's foreign and security policy.
