Josephine Norris

Adjunct Professor

Josephine Norris is Adjunct Professor at the Brussels School of Governance (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), teaching the Law of International Organizations. She is a Member of the Legal Service (WTO and international trade) at the European Commission and a UK-qualified barrister.  

Josephine studied law at Cambridge University (MA Cantab) and then obtained a DES (droit européen) from the Institute d’études européennes (ULB) as a scholar of the Philippe Wiener-Maurice Anspach Foundation.  

Josephine specialises in litigation and arbitration (including WTO dispute settlement). She advises on trade-related aspects of energy, legal relations between the EU and the OECD, Latin America and issues relating to technical barriers to trade (TBT). Josephine is assistant editor of the Encyclopaedia of Environmental Law (Thompson Reuters). She regularly delivers seminars and workshops on EU external relations law, and the interface between trade and sustainability.
