PhD Researcher

Jihye Kang is a PhD researcher with the KF-VUB Korea Chair at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance.

Jihye obtained an M.A. in European Affairs from Sciences-Po Paris after graduating from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. Since 2015, she has been working for the Korean Mission to the EU as an analyst.

Drawing on a Neoclassical Realist perspective, Jihye's doctoral research delves into the Strategic Partnership between the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Korea (ROK). With a particular focus on the EU’s foreign and security policy towards the ROK, her research assesses how their relations changed from 2010 to 2022, in conjunction with broader shifts in the geopolitical context.
