Prof. Hans Van de Wal is a Lecturer in International and European Law at the Brussels School of Governance. He graduated as Master of Laws at the University of Antwerp in 2007. He started working as an attorney at law at Elegis law firm in 2007 and became a partner in 2017. He provides legal assistance in criminal cases in the pre-trial phase as well as during criminal proceedings before the Belgian courts.
As a partner at Elegis law firm in Antwerp, he focuses on white collar crime cases (fraud, compliance, money laundering,…) both for suspects and victims, as well as EAW (European Arrest Warrant) and extradition cases. At the Brussels School of Governance, he teaches the course “Criminal Law” to international students. He is a member of the Executive Committee (Secretary) of the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA – www.ecba.org) and a member of GCLC (Global Criminal Law Counsel). Since April 2019, he is admitted to the List of Specialist Counsel with the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.
