Elie Perot

Programme Director

Elie Perot is Programme Director of the Postgraduate Certificate in EU Policy Making and a PhD Researcher at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG).  

He holds a Master in Public Affairs from Sciences Po Paris (summa cum laude) and a M.A. in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges. Elie has carried research work for the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (FRS) on nuclear deterrence and missile defence systems. As an intern, he also worked as a speechwriter in the General Directorate of the National Police in the French Ministry of Interior, as well as for the Defence Office of the French Embassy in Italy and for the ​Conseil d'Etat in France.  

His area of expertise covers European security, NATO and the EU, with a particular focus on the implications of the return of collective defence as the main strategic challenge facing the European security architecture. His research has been published in academic journals such as European Security, the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of European Integration and Survival as well as by various think tanks (Egmont Institute, FRS, Fondation Robert Schuman, Clingendael Institute, CSDS) and foreign affairs reviews (Le Grand Continent, Internationale Politik Quarterly). 

He was awarded the "Young Researcher Prize” (Prix du jeune chercheur) at the 2017 annual symposium of the French Association for Defence and Security Law (AFDSD - Association Française de Droit de la Sécurité et de la Défense).
