Visiting Research

David Carpentier is a visiting research fellow in the Centre for Migration, Diversity and Justice of the Brussels School of Governance. He is currently completing his PhD in the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa. His research interests focus on municipal governance, migration and integration, nationalism, and public policy. In his thesis, he analyzes the representations of the host society conveyed in the integration policies for migrants in Barcelona, Brussels, and Montréal. In context of competing national integration philosophies, he examines the tensions that can develop between levels of government. Last year, David published La métropole contre la nation? La politique montréalaise d’intégration des personnes immigrantes (PUQ, 2022).
