Carlos Soria Rodríguez

Senior Associate Researcher

Carlos Soria-Rodríguez is a Senior Associate Researcher at the Research Centre for Environment, Economy and Energy at the Brussels School of Governance and the Section of International and European Law of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He is also a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Section of ​​Public International Law and International Relations at the University of Jaén (Spain), where he carries out the project RENEWABLE-HIGH-SEAS.

Carlos obtained his PhD in Law from the VUB with a thesis on ‘The international and European environmental regulation of marine renewable energies in the EU’. He also holds a degree in Law, a master in industrial security and occupational hazard prevention both from University of Sevilla (Spain) and a LLM in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School (USA).

His research interests include public international law and EU law, with special focus on environmental law, law of the sea, marine renewable energy technologies, biodiversity conservation and ocean governance.
