Ana Fernandez Inguanzo

PhD Researcher

Ana is a PhD researcher in the Center for Digitalisation, Democracy and Innovation of the Brussels School of Governance. Previously, she obtained a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie PhD grant in ’Digital Surveillance’ and has worked in two H2020 projects, SHERPA and SIENNA, where Ana participated in a critical study of ethical issues and guidelines for the EU in data surveillance and AI. She holds a master degree in Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. 

At BSoG, she will be working for the Horizon project TITAN – AI for citizens coaching against disinformation. She is also an affiliated researcher at Law, Science Technology and Society Research Group. Her PhD is supervised by Trisha Meyer and Rosamunde van Brakel. Her thesis focuses on the relation between the two concepts of Privacy and Data Protection (understood as two fundamnetal human rights) and the relation to identity issues. She has also been appointed junior assistant for the course ’LESAI: Legal, Ethical and Social issues of AI’.
