Ilke Adam and Omar N. Cham won the 2024 Regional Studies Association Best Paper Award for their work in the journal Territory, Politics, Governance. Their success underscores our School's commitment to cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary teaching. They won this Award for the first paper they co-authored on 'The politicization and framing of migration in West Africa: transition to democracy as a game changer?'.

Recently, a follow-up article that Ilke and Omar co-authored was published in Governance, it is also open access and dives deeper into the analysis of how political actors in West Africa (might) frame their support or opposition to cooperation on deportation. The paper enables a deeper understanding of the perspectives of the West African political actors in the debates surrounding the externalization of EU migration policies.
