CSDS-BSoG organises successful 2nd edition of Brussels Indo-Pacific Dialogue

The Brussels Indo-Pacific Dialogue 2024 provided a unique platform for high-level experts and policymakers to discuss Europe’s role in the Indo-Pacific and bring the Indo-Pacific security debate to the European capital. After a successful inaugural conference in November 2022, the second edition took stock of and built up on recent developments, comparing perspectives from across the Atlantic, East, South and Southeast Asia and it looked at prospects for Europe’s most effective contribution to regional security.

The Dialogue was convened by the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG), which has established itself as a leading reference for informing academic and policy debates on the Indo-Pacific in Brussels through its Japan Chair and Korea Chair, as well as with its European Research Council (ERC) project ‘Europe in US-China rivalry’ (SINATRA) and ‘Bridging Allies’ initiative.

With Belgium holding the rotating Presidency of the EU in 2024, CSDS was pleased to welcome the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo as a keynote speaker.

Each of the panel sessions focused on a key aspect of relations between Europe and the Indo-Pacific.

Panel 1 was entitled "The War in Ukraine and the Future of the Rules-Based Global Order", and we were honoured to welcome Enrique Mora, Maki Kobayashi, Anit Mukherjee, Kristi Raik and Luis Simon.
