In 2024, Anthony Antoine, the Executive Director of the Brussels School of Governance, will mark three decades of service at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).

Anthony commenced his journey with VUB in 1994, embarking on a role as a researcher affiliated with the Centre for Peace and Security Studies within VUB's Politics Department. From 1998 to 2002, he collaborated on a project with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (International Relations and Security Network, ETHZ), focusing on developing online educational modules related to the proliferation and non-proliferation of chemical and biological weapons. Concurrently, Anthony served as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Gustaaf Geeraerts, overseeing the "European Security" course at VUB, combining this (meanwhile) part-time academic assignment with his full-time job at NATO.

Following the establishment of the Institute for European Studies (IES) at VUB in 2002, Anthony took on the role of "CEO" for two years before transitioning into the position of "Executive Director." Since then, he has dedicated himself as the full-time Executive Director of the Institute for European Studies, serving under consecutive Presidents Bart De Schutter and Karel De Gucht.

In February 2021, a formal alliance between IES and Vesalius College (VeCo) led to the creation of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG), with Anthony Antoine continuing his role as Executive Director. This strategic alliance has resulted in BSoG's team expanding to over 200 international professionals.

In addition to his leadership at BSoG, Anthony Antoine has played pivotal roles over the past decade, including membership in the Audit Committee of the Erasmus Hogeschool and serving as an Advisor to the President of the Brussels University Alliance (BUA). Notably, between 2016 and 2017, he successfully juggled his responsibilities at BSoG with an ad-interim acting directorship at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS). Presently, he serves as the Brussels Campus coordinator for UNU-CRIS.
