Koert Debeuf presents new book at KVS

On 14 November, BSoG Distinguished Adjunct Professor Koert Debeuf’s latest book was officially presented during a fully packed event organised by publisher Lannoo in the Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg (KVS) in Brussels. In the book, titled ‘Waarom oorlog vaak een psychologische oorzaak heeft’ (Why war often has a psychological cause), he explains that most armed conflicts do not have a rational motivation, but are very often linked to a country’s unresolved past trauma, like the collapse of the Soviet Union in the case of Russia. He puts forward that there are other countries that are still struggling with their past today, like Turkey, Egypt and China, and that hence, new wars are inevitable if this trend continues.
