Dr Serena D'Agostino presents her work on queer asylum seekers in Belgium

On 16 December 2021, Serena D'Agostino, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Brussels School of Governance, was invited, together with her co-author Anna Ropianyk, to present their recently published work Queer asylum seekers in Belgium: Navigating reception centers at the LGBTQ Forum – a Flemish network of researchers, civil society actors, and policymakers working on sexual and gender diversity. The other speaker was Fourat Ben Chika, who – apart from his work for Groen in the Belgian Senate – is the special rapporteur on LGBTI-issues for the Council of Europe. In this capacity, he is creating a report on the rising homo- and transphobia in Europe, which he discussed at the forum.
