Marc was a long-serving and greatly appreciated adjunct professor at BSoG where he was also instrumental in the reform of the Business BA three years ago.
It is a very sad day for BSoG and his students, as he was a great instructor teaching a variety of courses in finance and the digital economy over the last few years.
Moreover, he was a great friend and mentor to our students and staff. We intend to organize something more reflective of his achievements at BSoG once the current situation allows us to do so.
Next to his teaching activities at BSoG (former VeCo), Prof. Van Gastel was a board member with the regional Chamber of Commerce (VOKA), was Director of Strategy and Innovation with Deloitte, and also became Head of Invest in 2011 with Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT), the Flemish government agency that facilitates investment projects in Flanders and that supports Flemish export companies.
In the meantime, we would like to offer our condolences to his family and share their grief. His entrepreneurial spirit, good mood, commitment to students and expertise will be missed dearly.
