RETHINK! REUSE! REJOICE! That was the theme of the Academic Opening of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel at Gare Maritime on the Tour & Taxis premises. After a long period of contact bubbles and social distancing, it was time for a new start on Tuesday 28 September 2021. Rector Caroline Pauwels called for seizing the momentum and tackling together the many challenges the world is facing - climate, privacy, inequality, racism, fake news, cancel culture, attacks on science, etc. As a society, as a university, as scientists, we have today an overwhelming responsibility for our children and grandchildren.
