Call for application: Global Model EU 2022

The Brussels School of Governance is looking for two teams of four/five talented and ambitious students to partake in the Global Model European Union 2022 simulation.

The Global Model European Union (#GLOBALMEU) conference is a simulation of the European Union organized as a collaboration between colleges and universities around the world. The primary purpose of GLOBALMEU is to provide a framework for a simulation of a European Council meeting, to better educate students about the European Union while giving them an opportunity to interact with students from EU member and candidate states.

Students will be assigned roles in member state delegations, as heads of government or ministers, or as members of the Press Corps.

For the purposes of this conference, there are four Council configurations: European Council (Heads of Government-HoGs), Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN) Council, and the Environment Council (ENVI). Participants play their assigned country’s respective ministers in these configurations (e.g.: Head of Government in the European Council, Foreign Affairs minister in the Foreign Affairs Council, Minister responsible for Economic and Financial Affairs in the ECOFIN, and the Minister responsible for Environment in the Environment Council). In addition to playing a minister in one of the 27 member-states of the European Union, BSoG participants might also play as members of the Press Corps (serving as journalists attending the summit meetings and creating the daily newsletter).

The Global MEU Guidebook 2022 will be provided to selected students.

The event will take place between 13 and 15 January 2022. Because of the current circumstances the event will be organized online. Synchronous meetings might be held the days before to facilitate the exchange among students.

Each team represents an EU member state with the following roles:

As in the previous years, BSoG BA students of all four majors (IA, Business, Communications and Law) in at least their second year of university are welcome to apply. BSoG MA students are also welcome to apply.

How to participate

The deadline for applications is December 12th. Shortlisted candidates will be notified as of December 13th. Chosen students will undergo 2 training sessions prior to the simulation.

Interested students should prepare a one-page motivation letter and an updated CV (including current GPA). The motivation letter should outline the reasons and motivations for applying, the student’s qualifications and what the student would bring to the team in terms of skills. Prior participation to the SUNY Model EU or similar simulations will be considered a plus.
