BSoG MA students participate in Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge 2023

On 13 and 14 April 2023, BSoG Master students Massimiliano Giordano, Gregor Nägeli, Santiago Díaz-Pinés Navarro and Matthew Barrett participated in the Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge organised by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and the Atlantic Council.

Their team, Trolling Thunder, was tasked with designing and presenting a set of policy recommendations in response to a cybersecurity crisis scenario, along with a written policy brief outlining the situation. Aided by the guidance and expertise of their coach Professor Cappelletti, the group played to their strengths proposing a high-level intelligence sharing framework to address the case’s unknowns.

Although their proposal was not one of the ones selected for the finals, the team and their coach were proud of their efforts and felt they had benefitted from the experience of presenting policy solutions to a panel of judges. The Challenge offered an excellent opportunity for students to explore a new and relevant field.

We would like to thank the judges for their constructive feedback, and the organisers for hosting an engaging and comprehensive event.
