On 18 and 19 June several representatives from BSOG participated in the 4th European Conference on Teaching and Learning Politics, International Relations and European Studies – EuroTLC.
The conference organised by the ECPR Standing Group on Teaching and Learning Politics was co-chaired by Silviu Piros (IES) together with Dr. Heidi Maurer (University of Bristol) and Dr. Simon Usherwood (University of Surrey).
After three successful editions in Maastricht (2014), Brussels (2016) and Prague (2018), the conference was held virtually for the first time due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Silviu shared his insights in a workshop on the ‘Adaptability and Effectiveness of Teaching in the Context of Internationalisation. The main focus of the debate was on the European Universities Initiative.
Jamal Shahin, along with his colleague Claske Vos from the University of Amsterdam, presented their experiences in developing a core course on cultures of European governance in an international classroom. Jamal also involved his students in presenting their experiences in interviewing Brussels-based experts during the workshop titled ‘Bursting the Bubble: bringing Brussels to the Students’.
Giulia Tercovich shared her experiences and tips in teaching with practitioners. The lively debate saw participants discussing the advantages and challenges of involving practitioners in teaching academic courses.
