Assistant professor in European/International Political Economy
The Brussels School of Governance is looking for a full-time professor in international and/or European political economy.
More concretely your work package contains:
Education and Research domain:
International and/or EU political economy
Education tasks:
- You will be teaching up courses within relevant BSoG and VUB educational programmes in the fields of international economics, business, finance, methods, entrepreneurship, governance and/or management. The annual course load for full-time employment is 30ECTS, which corresponds to 5 courses per year. In the case the applicant takes on managerial tasks (such as the role of programme director), the teaching load will be reduced accordingly;
- You actively contribute to new initiatives in innovative teaching and institutional development;
- You will supervise a number of bachelor papers and master theses.
Research tasks:
- You will conduct excellent and internationally peer-reviewed research on international economics (all subfields), European political economy, and the economics of European environmental and sustainability policies, reinforcing the portfolio of the BSoG Research Centre for Environment, Economy and Energy;
- You will act as promoter or member of the doctoral committee of PhD students;
- You acquire external finances to advance the indicated research area, and, subsequently, prepare and manage externally financed research and academic service projects.
Other tasks:
- You reinforce active exchanges between academia and the Brussels-based profit and not-for-profit organizations and contribute to organizing events, workshops and initiatives relevant for the department;
- You are responsible for research related service tasks at the level of the research centre, the department, the faculty and/or the university;
- You develop and maintain an international research network.
The duration of the initial assignment is for two years and renewable afterwards. The appointment will be split into a 20% appointment as professorial staff plus 80% as research and teaching staff, combining into full-time employment at VUB.
