Desired Skills and Experience

  • PhD in business, management, economics or a related field, with research or practical experience in social entrepreneurship

  • Prior teaching experience in an interactive discussion-based classroom is highly desirable
  • Excellent English skills both written and spoken

The Course

You will be teaching the course ‘Social Entrepreneurship’:

This course focuses on the growing phenomenon of ‘Social Entrepreneurship’, defined as developing business ideas and companies that drive social change through innovative and profitable solutions. As such, social entrepreneurship combines tools, techniques and visions related to entrepreneurship and business innovation on the one hand with practical, market-driven solutions for fundamental social challenges, problems and concerns on the other hand. The course will provide an in-depth analysis of the history, evolution and major features of successful social entrepreneurship initiatives and will explore innovative approaches towards generating ‘shared value’ between companies and societies. Although this course is aimed primarily at Business Students, it is deliberately interdisciplinary in nature and open to students from other majors.

The course will be taught during the Fall 2023, which runs from mid-August until the beginning of December. A semester has a length of 15 weeks and commences on August 21 (with a break between October 30- November 3). A course consists of 3 teaching hours per week plus one office hour per week.

The contracts are on an independent basis ("indépendant" in French, "zelfstandige" in Dutch). This opportunity is ideal for academic professionals who would like to maintain a link to a university, and who would like to share their insights with young and motivated students within a strong multicultural environment.
