The Bachelor in Global Business and Entrepreneurship at the Brussels School of Governance invites applications for the position of Adjunct Professor for the Fall semester beginning on August 21, 2023.
Desired Skills and Experience
- PhD in finance, business, management, economics or a related field, with research or practical experience in financial accounting
- Prior teaching experience in an interactive discussion-based classroom is highly desirable
- Excellent English skills both written and spoken
You will be teaching the course ‘Financial Accounting’:
The core of this course deals with the main concepts in financial accounting and how these concepts are interconnected with managerial accounting. It is centred around the study of accounting cycles of service and manufacturing industries. Students will learn how financial statements are prepared and how to analyse them, i.e., the underlying business transactions that are reported. The course covers a broad range of topics in the valuation and reporting of assets, liabilities and equity. In the second part of the course students will understand managerial accounting concepts. The emphasis is put on analysis of cost behaviour, budgeting concepts, standard cost systems and variance analysis, as well as the use of accounting information to make decisions.
The course will be taught during the Fall 2023, which runs from mid-August until the beginning of December. A semester has a length of 15 weeks and commences on August 21 (with a break between October 30- November 3). A course consists of 3 teaching hours per week plus one office hour per week.
The contracts are on an independent basis ("indépendant" in French, "zelfstandige" in Dutch).
