The VECO Communication & Public Relations Department warmly welcomes VECO faculty, staff and students to an online seminar on political marketing during the 2020 presidential elections. This closed-room event will be held on Wednesday 14 October 2020, 10:00-11:30, via Microsoft Teams, with PR professional Tobias Van Assche.

Tobias Van Assche is a senior consultant at the Public Relations company Befirm in Brussels, where he specializes in corporate and crisis communication. Prior to switching to the private sector three years ago, he worked for the communications department of the U.S. Embassy to Belgium and the U.S. Mission to the European Union for half a decade. During this period, he witnessed the last two presidential campaigns close up.

Tobias holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University (Syracuse NY) with a specialisation in comparative foreign policy and political leadership. He returned to Belgium in 2008 after having lived in the United States for 12 years to be a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Antwerp in the working group Media, Movements and Politics (M2P) for a project that focused on agenda setting. During this time he also taught Political Marketing at KU Leuven.

The event is organised as a public guest lecture in the Communication & Public Relations programme of Brussels School of Governance.
