Speakers:

Dr. Georg Löfflmann is Leverhulme Early Career Fellow and Research Fellow in International Security at University of Warwick. He is currently working on a research project on the interlinkage of security discourses and populist rhetoric in the United States under the Trump presidency. Among other publications, he is the author of American Grand Strategy under Obama: Competing Discourses (Edinburgh: Edinburgh University Press, 2017).

Dr. Mason Richey is Associate Professor of international politics at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, South Korea), and Senior Contributor at the Asia Society (Korea). Dr. Richey has also held positions as a POSCO Visiting Research Fellow at the East-West Center (Honolulu, HI) and a DAAD Scholar at the University of Potsdam. His research focuses on U.S. and European foreign and security policy as applied to the Asia-Pacific. Recent scholarly articles have appeared (inter alia) in Pacific ReviewAsian SecurityGlobal Governance, and Foreign Policy Analysis. Shorter analyses and opinion pieces have been published in 38NorthWar on the RocksLe Monde, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, and Forbes, among other venues. He is co-editor of the volume The Future of the Korean Peninsula: Korea 2032 (Routledge, forthcoming 2021). 

Ms. Maja Urbańska is an EU official working at the European External Action Service (EEAS) where she occupies the position of Deputy Head of Division for EU relations with the United States of America and Canada (acting Head of Division since June 2020). Prior to this, she worked as a Team Leader in the Iran Task Force in charge of the implementation of the JCPOA, EU-Iran bilateral relations and regional issues. Between 2011 and 2015, Ms Urbańska served as the Political Assistant to the Deputy Secretary-General of the EEAS responsible for security and defence policy which included also a wide range of fields such as conflict prevention/mediation, human rights and development cooperation. Ms. Urbańska has been employed in the EU institutions since 2005. She worked in DG Enlargement of the European Commission and in the Cabinet of Vice-President Margot Wallström from where she was recruited in 2009 to the Cabinet of the President of the European Parliament, Mr Jerzy Buzek. With the creation of the EEAS in 2011, she started her career in the area of EU foreign policy. Before moving to Brussels, Ms Urbańska was an employee of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and prior to this worked in the private sector as a public relations officer.
