Avenues of Cooperation between the European Union and Turkey in the Area of Migration

Practical information

Friday 15 October 2021, 10:00-12:00
This event is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.

While cooperation in the field of migration became an important pillar in the EU-Turkey relations, it also led to populist discourse against “migrants” and increasing fear against “the other” in most EU countries. Combined with the terrorist threat and preoccupations about possible job losses, the phenomenon of migration largely contributed to the rise of right-wing parties in the EU.

The Brussels School of Governance in cooperation with the Brussels-based Dialogue for Europe (DfE) and with the support of the Ankara-based European Union and Global Research Organisation (ABKAD) cordially invite you to a conference followed by a lunch reception (depending on Covid-regulations) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel to discuss the integration of refugees in Turkey and the EU, the root-causes of migration and its possible societal effects, new challenges caused by the Afghanistan crisis, EU-Turkey migration deal and future relations.

DfE, in partnership with ABKAD, is currently implementing a project called “Strengthening Dialogue between the EU and Turkey in the Area of Migration and Security”. The project is funded by the European Union under “Supporting Civil Society Dialogue Between EU and Turkey Grant Scheme (CSD VI/017)”.

We offer the opportunity to attend the event in-person at Pleinlaan 5, -1 floor in the room Lisbon & Rome. Please click here to register to attend the event in-person, as we will foresee some catering as well.

We will also livestream the event, please click here to attend the event digitally.
